The History Of Halloween
One of the biggest holidays which is celebrated everywhere in the world is Halloween, people of all ages love to get dressed up and party. Although it was not traditionally an American holiday they now celebrate more than any other country with parties and games. The children go from door to door in their Halloween fancy dress collecting candy and the whole evening is filled with fun and laughter.
Halloween is traditionally celebrated on the evening of 31st October and has been celebrated for over 3000 years. There are many different stories behind the history of Halloween and the fact that it is the eve of All Saints Day some believe means that it was to acknowledge the lighter days ending and the darker winter months approaching. Many of the costumes including the vampire costumes were worn to help ward off the evil darker spirits.
Masks are often worn and it is believed this is to protect the wearer from the evil spirits coming to harm them.
