Cheap Halloween Costumes - Family Fun For The Halloween Season

By David Lawson

Halloween is a time for celebration. It is at that point in the year where the nights are drawing in and it is becoming colder. This festival marks the coming of winter. It can be expensive to dress up, so why not make some cheap Halloween costumes.

The really easy one to start with is of course the ghost. Ghosts are always scary, but especially at Halloween. It is also the perfect use for that old white sheet that you have not yet got around to throwing out. You do not need much else to make a ghost. You just need some scissors, a marker pen and some safety pins.

Your ghost to be should have some white shoes, gloves and white clothes to go underneath their sheet. Lay the sheet over their head and make sure that it is straight. Mark the hem level, making sure that it is well clear of the ground because ghosts do not trip over. They glide.

Then mark where their arms come to so that it can be cut so that they can move their arms easily. Very carefully mark where their eyes are. Take off the sheet and cut where you have marked. You should allow quite large eye holes so that they are not in any danger of not being able to see, and a bit of black make up around the eyes would add nicely to the effect.

Use safety pins to hold it all together. Get them dressed in their white clothes, shoes and gloves and position the sheet. This is incredibly quick and very very cheap.

Once you have made a ghost then you will probably be inspired to make other more complicated costumes. Draw inspiration from the shops and your kids suggestions. They will probably be brimming with ideas on how to make the costumes more individual. Its a great way to spend time with your family while creating some cheap Halloween costumes.
