Terrific Ideas For Homemade Halloween Decorations
If you're throwing a Halloween party or expecting some ghoulish trick or treaters at your door, you'll want to put up some Halloween decorations to set the scene. Instead of buying decorations from the store, you can save some money and make your own. Here are a few ideas for suitably spooky homemade Halloween decorations.
To give your visitors a real scare, why not make a life-size mummy? Take some old pants and a shirt, lay them on the floor and stuff them with newspaper. For the hands, attach a pair of gloves to the arms of the shirt, and for the head, just inflate a balloon and attach it to the collar. Then wrap the whole thing up using toilet paper or gauze. If you can spare an old white bed sheet which you can cut into strips, even better. Leave some slits near the eye area.
It's easy to create homemade bats from Styrofoam. Find a bat pattern on the internet, cut it out and position it on the foam. Then cut around it, and paint the Styrofoam black. Another option is to use black construction paper. Hang your bats from the ceiling or eaves, or stick them on your window.
You can also create some Halloween decor using old glass jars. Put in some plastic insects from the dollar store, fill it with water and add a couple drops of food coloring. To make it even spookier, wrap it with some strips of gauze.
You might think that ketchup is the only thing around to make fake blood but you are wrong. You can also make some using a cup of corn syrup, a tablespoon of water, 2 tablespoons of red food coloring and tablespoon of yellow food coloring. Once you mix this all together, you will realize that it looks much more realistic than ketchup. Use the mixture to add ghoulish accents to your homemade Halloween decorations.
